6.3.2. Glow plugs



If the system of prestarting heating just worked or the engine was just switched off, glow plugs will be very hot.

1. Disconnect the negative plug of the accumulator.
2. Remove system of pipes of an air inlet and disconnect a hose of ventilation of a case from a maslozalivny mouth.
3. Unscrew a fastening nut (it is specified by an arrow) the current tire to a glow plug. Pay attention that the feeding wire is connected to the current tire on a glow plug of the cylinder No. 2.
4. If necessary displace any pipes and wires aside to improve access to the removed glow plug.
5. Unscrew a glow plug and take from the block of cylinders.


1. Check each glow plug for existence of mechanical damages. The bad stream of dispersion of fuel a nozzle can be the reason that tips of a glow plug are burned or destroyed. If there is such damage, it is necessary to check and if necessary to replace fuel nozzles.
2. If glow plugs have no mechanical damages, check their electric resistance which has to be less than 1 Ohm.
3. Operability of candles of an incandescence can be checked, giving on them 12 volts. At the same time they have to heat up evenly and for the required time interval.
4. At the same time it is necessary to observe precautionary measures:
      – to hold a glow plug a special clip or flat-nose pliers;
      – the electric power-supply circuit of a glow plug has to have the fuse;
      – after check the glow plug has to be cooled within several minutes.
5. The glow plug in good shape heats up to reddening of a working tip within 5 seconds. At longer heating or heating in a middle part, but not on the end of a candle, the candle is faulty and is subject to replacement.

1. Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal.
2. At the same time a carving part of a candle needs to be greased with antiprigarny structure on the basis of copper.
