4.6. Thermal sensors

PETROL MODELS WITHOUT CONDITIONER

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Power supply to the fan(s) of cooling moves via the lock of ignition and the fuse. On petrol engines without conditioner the control of the fan is made by the thermal sensor installed in a radiator on the left side. On petrol engines with the conditioner and all diesel engines fans are run by the Bitron sensor.
2. The fan has to turn on at excess of working temperature of the engine, i.e. several minutes prior to an entrance of an arrow of the index of temperature of the engine to the red sector or before fire of a lamp of the alarm system of excess of temperature of cooling liquid. If the fan does not turn on, remove wires from the thermal sensor, connect them among themselves and include ignition. If the fan starts working after that probably the thermal sensor which is subject to replacement failed.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The thermal sensor is installed in a radiator on the left side. Before removal of the thermal sensor the engine and a radiator have to be cold.
2. Disconnect the negative plug of the accumulator.
3. Partially merge cooling liquid from the cooling system that the level of cooling liquid was below the sensor. It is alternatively possible not to merge liquid from the cooling system, and after a sensor vyvinchivaniye very quickly to establish a cap instead of the sensor. In this case it is necessary to be careful not to damage a radiator.
4. Remove wires from contacts of the sensor.
5. Being careful unscrew the sensor from a radiator.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before installation of the sensor replace ring consolidation.
2. Installation of the sensor is made in the sequence, the return to removal. Reliably tighten the sensor and fill up the cooling system.
3. Start the engine and warm up up to the working temperature. At further temperature increase check turning on of the fan the sensor.

PETROL MODELS WITH THE CONDITIONER AND ALL DIESEL MODELS

Fans of cooling are run by the Bitron sensor which is located in a thermostat casing on the left side of a head of the block of cylinders.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
The Bitron sensor also operates the air conditioning system, and check of its working capacity needs to be made at the specialized station Peugeot.

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The temperature sensor "Bitron" is screwed in in a thermostat casing on petrol the engine or in a casing of the fuel filter on diesel engines which fastens bolts on the left side of a head of the block of cylinders. The sensor can be identified on the brown color of a wire going to the sensor.
2. Removal and installation are similar earlier described for a radiator fan thermoswitch.

THE SENSOR OF TEMPERATURE OF COOLING LIQUID IN THE CONTROL SYSTEM OF FUEL INJECTION

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The sensor of temperature of cooling liquid in a control system of injection of fuel is screwed in in a casing of the thermostat which is fixed by bolts on the left side of a head of the block of cylinders. The sensor can be identified on the green wire going to the sensor.
2. The sensor is a thermistor. The electronic control control unit (ECU) gives tension to the sensor and, measuring the current proceeding on it, determines engine temperature. This information is used by the ECU block for management of time of opening of an injector (impulse width). On some models the speed of idling and installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition are also defined by engine temperature.
3. If the sensor fails the ECU system enters regime of the doubler, i.e. accepts in advance set size which will allow system of injection of fuel to work, though with smaller efficiency. In this case on a combination of devices the corresponding lamp of the alarm system will light up that means that at prime necessity it is necessary to address on car repair shop. This sensor can be checked with use of the special diagnostic equipment Peugeot. Do not try to check the sensor, using the equipment which is not intended for this purpose since it is possible to put the ECU block out of action.
