3.1.10. Cam-shaft and pushers

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the negative plug from the accumulator and uncover a head of the block of cylinders.
Engine models 1.6 liters
2. Remove a cam-shaft pulley.
3. Remove the ignition coil.
4. Unscrew the top bolt of fastening of a casing of the thermostat by the left forward end of a head of the block of cylinders.
5. Being careful, pick up the phone of supply of oil in the top covers of bearings of a cam-shaft. Pay attention to the sealing rings of round section established in each connection of the pipeline.
6. Covers of bearings of a cam-shaft are numbered from 1 to 5, and the cover No. 1 is from the transmission. If covers are not numbered, number them. Also note the provision of each cover.
7. Evenly and gradually weaken nuts of fastening of a cover of bearings of a cam-shaft. As soon as pressure of a valvate spring stops, unscrew nuts completely.
8. Uncover bearings.
9. Remove a cam-shaft from a head of the block of cylinders and a sealing ring from the camshaft.
10. Using a rubber sucker, take pushers and place them in the corresponding container so that they could be established on the places after assembly. If necessary it is possible to remove adjusting laying from the top part of a rod of the valve and to store it with the corresponding pusher.
Models of engines 1.8 and 2.0 of liter
11. Remove both covers of a head of the block of cylinders.
12. Remove both pulleys from camshafts together with naves, and also a pulley of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt.
13. Remove the top internal casing of a gear belt.
14. Evenly and gradually unscrew twelve bolts of fastening of bearings of cam-shafts to a head of the block of cylinders. Take bolts and remove cases of bearings.
15. As both cam-shafts are identical, it should be noted before their removal the cam-shaft operating inlet valves and the cam-shaft operating final valves.
16. Remove cam-shafts and remove sealing rings from cam-shafts.
17. Using a rubber sucker, take hydraulic pushers and place them in the corresponding container so that they could be established on the places after assembly.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check a condition of working surfaces of bearings of a cam-shaft and cams for wear existence. With any wear on a cam-shaft it is subject to replacement. Check a condition of working surfaces of bearings of a cam-shaft in a head of the block of cylinders. If the working surfaces of bearings are worn-out, it is necessary to replace a head of the block of cylinders.
2. Check a condition of pushers. If on pushers there is a wear from cam-shaft cams, the pusher needs to be replaced (perhaps, together with a cam-shaft).

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Models of engines 1.6 liters
1. Establish adjusting laying in the top part of a core of the valve. Do not trade adjusting laying at all places since it will lead to violation of size of a valvate gap.
2. Oil engine pushers and establish a head of the block of cylinders, and pushers have to become on the former places.
3. Oil engine cam-shaft cams, then establish a cam-shaft in a head of the block of cylinders. Temporarily establish a pulley on a cam-shaft and combine adjusting openings in a pulley with an opening in a head of the block of cylinders. Check that the adjusting core blocked a flywheel pulley.
4. Check that covers of bearings were carefully cleared. Establish covers of bearings, using earlier made markings.
5. Evenly and gradually (every time on 1 turn) tighten covers of bearings of a cam-shaft to a contact them with a head of the block of cylinders. After that, on a spiral, tighten all nuts by the required effort.
6. Check junctions of the pipeline of supply of oil to cam-shaft bearings, and also and if necessary replace sealing rings of round section with existence of wear. Oil sealing rings of round section engine and, being careful, install the pipeline.
7. Check a condition of a sealing ring and if necessary replace. Establish the top bolt of fastening to a casing of the thermostat and tighten it the required moment.
8. Install the ignition coil.
9. Establish a new sealing ring of a cam-shaft and a pulley of a cam-shaft.
10. Check gaps of valves.
11. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and connect the negative plug to the accumulator.
Models of engines 1.8 and 2.0 of liter
12. Carefully clear cases of bearings of a cam-shaft.
13. Oil engine hydraulic pushers and establish them on the places. Check that each pusher freely turns in an opening.
14. Oil engine bearings and cams of cam-shafts and establish cam-shafts in a head as follows:
      – models of engines 1.8 liters: the flute of a final cam-shaft has to be in the provision of 12 hours, and a flute of an inlet cam-shaft – in the provision of 11 hours;
      – models of engines 2.0 liters: the flute of a final cam-shaft has to be in situation 3 hours, and a flute of an inlet cam-shaft – in the provision of 11 hours.
15. Check that the directing pins are on the places, i.e. in each corner of a head of the block of cylinders.
16. Grease with silicone lubricant of the space for laying and openings under fastening bolts.
17. Oil engine bearings of a cam-shaft and install cases of bearings on cam-shafts. Establish fastening bolts.
18. Consistently and gradually, in a certain order, tighten bolts of fastening of cases of bearings in two stages.
19. Establish the top internal casing of a gear belt.
20. Establish a pulley of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt.
21. Establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders.
22. Establish new sealing rings, naves and pulleys of cam-shafts.
